NÍTID – from the Latin nitidus, meaning bright, glistening or lustrous – is the inspiration for our new loudspeaker series that celebrates 45 years of Amate Audio engineering. Made in Barcelona, the culmination of a meticulous development program, these systems achieve new standards of performance, power and operational versatility from compact designs. NÍTID systems employ the latest digital amplification and signal processing technologies, in symbiosis with advanced electroacoustic components and design; including application optimised ‘plug & play’ control presets, for virtually instantaneous operation. High-end structural features include the exclusively designed speaker grilles with a 67% ‘best-in-class’ perforation coefficient, offering astonishing sonic transparency without compromising protection, and Amate Audio’s proprietary SensitiveTouch™ weatherproof capacitive sensor keypad technology.

Attendees first evaluated the N26, N36 and N46 2-way full-range compact column systems – comprising a 2x, 4x and, for the first time in the Amate Audio product portfolio, introducing a 3x 6” cabinet design. Based around a high performance 6” full-range, carbon fiber coned, lightweight driver, this series delivers near audiophile signal reproduction, with exceptional LF response and power handling. With a coherent signal response across the three models, the series provides for comprehensive scalable solutions across all types of fixed installation and mobile applications.
A presentation followed, led by Product Application Engineer Paco Rodríguez and Area Sales Manager Jordi Amate, describing the premium operational features and specifications of NÍTID series systems, and the competitive performance advantages these provide. “With NÍTID we are redefining the performance parameters of compact reinforcement systems and the breadth of applications within which they can be deployed,” states Rodríguez. “The integration of 3rd generation class D power amplification with Amate Audio’s latest DSP developments in loudspeaker system management and user operation, enables us to achieve higher standards of signal quality, SPLs, and system performance from compact sound reinforcement.”

Guests were also given an advance look at the new ultra-compact, lightweight N10 and N12 full-range point source systems, due for launch in the new year. In demonstration, these were matched with the NÍTID N18W compact sub. The 2-way 10” and 12” full range active systems incorporate the leading NÍTID performance features, within an asymmetrical trapezoidal form factor, which enables them to be deployed (either stacked or pole mounted) in point source PA configuration, or horizontally in stage monitor mode; the PETP diaphragm HF compression driver is loaded to an asymmetrical rotational horn. With 600 W and 700 W bi-amplification, respectively, both models provide exceptionally high quality, high power audio output, with exceptional articulation in the vocal frequencies.
A major highlight of the presentation was the demonstration and evaluation of the new flagship NÍTID line array systems, where left and right flown strings of four N208 2-way active line array elements were matched with the more powerful NÍTID N218W sub; configuration being quickly achieved with the onboard DSP system presets. Major high-end performance features of this powerful compact 2x 8” system include Amate Audio’s proprietary 110º x 11º aluminium long throw waveguide. In a proven high efficiency control system, developed in the company’s top of the range X210 line array, N208 elements are configured in coupled pairs of active and passive cabinets; 1500 W Class D amplification and DSP control in the active element controlling both. A custom rigging design greatly enhances the speed and ease with which the system can be deployed. The competitive price point of the NÍTID line array, in relation to its advanced design and performance capabilities, makes it a unique proposition in a highly contested market sector.

The final demonstration was of the ultra-compact, powerful NíTID N12SM. This highly versatile stage monitor / point source system, features a dual angle ‘wedge profile’ which provides for both close proximity and longer throw floor monitor applications. Stacked in the vertical alignment, the cabinet can be deployed in FOH systems or in upright monitor applications. Weighing just 18kg, the highly portable N12SM features an advanced high performance, low mass 12” LF transducer and 1.75” HF neodymium driver. Performance is characterised by its highly musical, pristine sound reproduction – with outstanding vocal intelligibility – ultra-low distortion and 128 dB SPL.
Speaking after the event, Area Sales Manager Jordi Amate, said, “What most immediately surprised the audience was that all the NÍTID series systems are characterized by the same exceptional high quality, crystal clear sound. Some of the NÍTID systems represent advanced further developments of existing designs in our portfolio, with which people are already familiar; it was very pleasing to see the surprise and obvious satisfaction with which they reacted to these new models.
“As well as the remarkable sound quality, it was the lightweight and highly compact dimensions of the NÍTID systems that drew considerable positive reaction; as did the very high quality construction and the attractive appearance; particularly of the newly designed grilles. This was our first promotion for the NÍTID series during which we wrote a considerable amount of business, so what we intended to be a small initial demonstration was in fact a significant first step. As a sales manager that makes me proud, to have our customers acknowledge that we have an extremely good product in NÍTID.”
